Marathon Oil Reaches $242M Federal Settlement Over ND Pollution

(Bismarck, ND) — Marathon Oil has reached a 242-million-dollar federal settlement over pollution at the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota. Federal officials say the company’s gas and oil production sites in the area violated the Clean Air Act. The historic settlement includes a 64-point-five-million-dollar fine, which is the largest ever for a violation of the Clean Air Act from a stationary source.
