(Sioux Falls, SD) — The West Nile Virus is showing up in more areas across the state. The Department of Health says the mosquito-borne virus has spread to Brookings County, and has also turned up in Brown, Davison, Hughes, Lincoln and Minnehaha counties. The first confirmed human case of West Nile appeared last week in Beadle County. Health officials say residents should protect themselves by using repellent and avoid spending too much time outdoors at dawn and dusk.
