Man In Custody After Police Standoff In Rapid City

(Rapid City, SD) — Police in Rapid City say a man who was involved in a seven-hour standoff with officers is now in custody. Police responded to the area near Pinedale Elementary School after reports of shots fired around 11:30 Sunday morning. Rapid City Police Chief Don Hendrick says the man suspected of firing the shots barricaded himself in a home and negotiated with the Pennington County / Rapid City Special Response Team for several hours. After losing contact with the man, the special response team entered the home and took him into custody. The suspect has been identified as Robbie Rombough of Rapid City. He’s facing several charges including aggravated assault domestic violence, first-degree burglary and commission of a felony with a firearm.
