(Carrington, ND) — The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report on a fiery train derailment that happened near Carrington last month. The report says a total of 29 train cars derailed, 17 of which contained hazardous substances. Investigators found that methanol and anhydrous ammonia spilled from multiple tanker cars, pooled on the ground, and caught on fire, causing three-point-six-million dollars in damage. The board is still working to determine what caused the train cars to go off the tracks.
