(Sioux Falls, SD) — An investigation is underway into another alleged attack on a correctional officer at the South Dakota State Penitentiary. The state Attorney General’s Office confirmed the news yesterday, adding the DCI is assisting in the investigation. This attack reportedly happened on August 5th. According to the DOC, the officer was not able to activate his personal alarm but alerted a co-worker for help. It’s the second recent attack on a corrections officer. An officer at the penitentiary was “choked out” by an inmate and requiring medical attention on the weekend of August 3rd.
