MDU Small Rate Increase Approved

News

(Pierre, SD) — Customers with Montana-Dakota Utilities are officially going to see a small rate increase in the near future. The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission approved higher electricity and natural gas rates yesterday with a unanimous yes vote from the three commissioners. Those rates will go up about eight percent for both. It’s smaller than the original requests from Montana-Dakota Utilities last August which was for an 11-percent bump for gas and over 17 percent for electricity. MDU estimates that a typical residential customer will pay about 53 dollars more for natural gas and about 98 dollars more for electricity over a 12-month period.
