(Bismarck, ND) — People are cleaning up after a slow-moving thunderstorm dumped torrential rain on Bismarck Tuesday afternoon, causing serious flooding. The water submerged roads, resulting in traffic jams and floating cars. It also poured into the basements of homes and flooded a section of Sanford Health Hospital. Parts of Burleigh and Morton counties saw between 4 and 6 inches of rain, and the flooding prompted officials to activate the Tavis Pump Station, which drains flood water into the Missouri River. More strong storms are possible this afternoon and evening.
