Suspect Hit By Car After Vermillion Gas Station Robbery

News

(Vermillion, SD) — A Tennessee man is facing grand theft and weapons charges after he allegedly robbed a Vermillion gas station earlier this week. Vermillion police say 27-year-old Harold Carter of Memphis was arrested Monday after he stole money from the gas station and led officers on two different chases. Carter was first arrested after a brief chase on foot. He was then able to escape from the patrol vehicle, and while fleeing in handcuffs, he ran into the road and was hit by a car. After being checked for injuries at a hospital, Carter was booked into the Clay County Jail where he’s being held on 100-thousand-dollars bond.
