(Bismarck, ND) — Former North Dakota Federal Prosecutor Lynn Crooks died at age 83 on Sunday. He was involved in several high-profile cases, including the 1977 murder trial of Native American activist Leonard Peltier, and the 1983 Medina Shootout. Crooks served in several roles throughout his career, including as first assistant U.S. Attorney and acting U.S. attorney, but said his calling was to be a federal prosecutor. North Dakota U.S. Attorney Mac Schneider says he was arguably the greatest prosecutor in the history of North Dakota.
