Rapid City Expanding Hosting Sports Events

(Rapid City, SD) — Rapid City is becoming the place to be for hosting sporting events. In addition to hosting the Lakota Nation Invitational and numerous state high school tournament, Rapid City has also been hosting events for other sports, such as tennis and pickleball. Rapid City Sports Commission Executive Director Domico Rodriguez says they’ll also be hosting sporting events for body building, BMX racing, tumbling and trampoline. Rapid City is also the home of the Special Olympics Rapid City Flame, which provides year-round sports training and competition “for children and young adults with intellectual disabilities,” according to its website. The Special Olympics State Bocce and Softball Tournaments are set for this weekend beginning on Thursday.
