(Mandan, ND) — Family, friends, and community are preparing to say goodbye to a prominent Mandan native who served in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years. Colonel Vernon Huber passed away on September 14th at the age of 96. He served in the Korean War and became a prisoner of war when his jet was hit in 1952. Back in 2021, Huber achieved his dream of leading Mandan’s Independence Day Parade. A funeral Mass will be held for Huber at Christ The King Catholic Church at eleven this morning. He will be buried with full military honors at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
