EEOC Law Blocked While ND Catholic Case Plays Out

(Bismarck, ND) — A Bismarck judge is ruling that the federal government cannot force Catholic institutions in North Dakota to make accommodations for abortions or IVF treatments until a court case is settled. Monday’s ruling in a federal court in Bismarck temporarily blocks the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from enforcing part of its anti-discrimination regulations regarding abortion, IVF and LGBTQ workers. The Diocese of Bismarck is challenging a recently-created federal rule they claim would force them to violate their Catholic values. The EEOC claims the Bismarck Diocese lacks standing to challenge the law.
