(Sioux Falls, SD) — A former state prison employee is pleading guilty to having sexual contact with an inmate. Thirty-six-year-old Cassandra Jelsma was charged one count of a prohibited sexual act between a prison employee and a prisoner during her time as the prisons’ communications maintenance tech. Jelsma faces a maximum of four-years in prison and four-thousand dollar fine if convicted. She is set to be sentenced in Feburary 2025.
