(Mitchell, SD) — The director of the Corn Palace in Mitchell is stepping down. October 18th will be the final day for Doug Greenway at what’s billed as Mitchell’s largest tourist attraction. In an interview with the Mitchell Republic, Greenway called his five years in the position “a dream job.” He said he doesn’t believe he and Mitchell Mayor Jordan Hanson are “going in the same direction.” Bob Everson was mayor when Greenway was selected to the position. According to the Mitchell Republic, Greenway called his departure a “retirement” in his letter of resignation.
