(Spring Valley Township, SD) — South Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the man killed in the September 19th crash in McCook County. In a press release, Highway Patrol says Billy Joe Poppenga was driving the Ford Ranger that collided with a GMC Yukon at the intersection of Highway 42 and 451st Avenue in Spring Valley Township. Poppenga died from his injuries on October 1st. A passenger riding with Poppenga suffered injuries described as serious, but non-life-threatening. Those in the Yukon had minor injuries.
