(Watford City, ND) — A Watford City teenager is recovering from a head injury he got while protecting the family ranch from a wildfire. Two wildfires have been burning near Watford City since the weekend, and one came near the Sorenson ranch on Saturday. KMOT says 19-year-old Tel Sorenson and his brother drove out in their pickup to the edge of the ranch to put out a hot spot. The report says Sorenson went to check the level on the pressure tank of a water pump when the tank’s cap shot off and struck him in the temple. He was rushed to a hospital in Minot, where he is recovering from head trauma.
