Four People Sentenced On Controlled Substance, Money Laundering Convictions

(Sioux Falls, SD) — Two South Dakota residents are among four people who will be spending at least two dozen years behind bars following a pair of conspiracy convictions. A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of South Dakota on Thursday said Jesse Richmond of Sioux Falls has been sentenced to more than 24 years for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The release said Tony Hunter, also of Sioux Falls, received a 27-year sentence for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. In addition, Nathan Johnson of Denver and Michele Johnson of Steen, Minnesota were each sentenced to more than 30 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The four were convicted of transporting methamphetamine from California to Sioux Falls between December 2022 and July 2023.
