(Pennington County, SD) — The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office says climbers on Old Baldy Mountain are safe after a climbing gear malfunction left them immobile. A post on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page says they got a call about the climbers shortly after 3 p.m. Monday afternoon. Pennington County Search and Rescue was joined by Mount Rushmore Park Rangers, Keystone Ambulance Service and National Park Service in the rescue. All of the climbers and rescue personnel were unharmed. The Sheriff’s Office did not specify how many climbers had been stranded on the mountain.
