(Sioux Falls, SD) — Some top South Dakota Department of Revenue officials are going to be on the receiving end of a subpoena to testify before state lawmakers. The State Legislature’s Executive Board unanimously approved a request yesterday from the Government Operations and Audit Committee. Those subpoenas will be issued to DOR Secretary Michael Houdyshell and DMV Director Rosa Yaeger. The decision stems from the ongoing investigations into now-former state government employees issuing fictitious ownership titles for motor vehicles. Houdyshell recently refused to disclose to the legislative committee some of the internal controls that the Revenue Department is taking in response to the allegations.
