(Milbank, SD) — A suspect is in custody and another person is recovering after a shooting at a nursing home in Milbank yesterday. Authorities from both South Dakota and Minnesota responded to the Avantara nursing home around noon. Attorney General Marty Jackley says the shooting was over a conflict between an employee and a supervisor, both confirmed to be women. Only one shot was fired, and there’s no ongoing threat to the public. The supervisor was hit around the nose, but fortunately only received minor injuries. The suspect was caught trying to leave the facility right after the shooting and is in the process of being formally charged. South Dakota’s Division of Criminal Investigation is still investigating the incident.
