State Legislators Consider “Blackout” North Dakota License Plates

(Bismarck, ND) — The popular “blackout” license plates may soon be available in North Dakota. The black plates with white lettering have become fashionable in Minnesota and other surrounding states, and now a bill has been drafted that would make the plates available in North Dakota. The Senate Transportation Committee will hear testimony in Bismarck this morning on legislation that would let the state Department of Transportation issue the plates. Residents who get the plates would have to pay a fee. The bill’s supporters say the blackout plates could generate over three-million dollars in revenue for the state.
