(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota farmers are worried about the effects of tariffs being imposed by President Trump. The President says he is officially moving forward with agricultural tariffs on goods coming into the U.S. from Canada, Mexico and China effective April 2nd. South Dakota Soybean Association president Kevin Deinert says one of the state’s largest partners in terms of ag trade is Mexico. Deinert and other South Dakota ag leaders are primarily concerned about the potential impact of retaliatory tariffs because they won’t be able to market products in those countries. According to Deinert, South Dakota has built up long-lasting relationships with many international trade partners that are likely to be disrupted.
