ND Senate Strikes Down Same-Sex Marriage Bill

(Bismarck, ND) — A North Dakota same-sex marriage bill won’t reach the U.S. Supreme Court. The state Senate struck down a proposed resolution by the House to define marriage as being between a man and a woman. It was an attempt to reverse the 2015 decision to legalize same-sex marriage in the country at the federal level, which the bill labeled flawed and unjust. Nearly 60 percent of North Dakotans disapproved of the proposal with only 31 percent supporting it.
