Project Prison Reset Task Force Wraps 2nd Meeting

(Springfield, SD) — Governor Rhoden’s Project Prison Reset task force is now done with its second of four meetings. Group members unanimously decided on a recommendation that replacing the current South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls is necessary. The task force has at least 12 potential sites for a new men’s prison, all of which are on the eastern side of the state. A majority of them are in the Sioux Falls area, including the previously considered Lincoln County site between Harrisburg and Canton. The group will receive a consultant’s report on a possible on a possible prison project in June.
