(Bismarck, ND) — The state’s House is killing a bill to increase speed limits on interstate highways. The vote was tight with 46-to-45 against passing House Bill 1298. Forty-eight votes favoring the bill were needed to pass. It proposed increasing the speed limit from 75-miles-per-hour to 80. A similar bill was vetoed in 2023 over concerns of speed-related deaths.
