Immigration Lawsuit Filed By School Of Mines Student

court news

(Rapid City, SD) — A South Dakota School of Mines student in federal court over claims that her immigration documents were wrongfully terminated is still fighting to attend her graduation. Priya Saxena, a doctorate student from India, sued Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem directly. According to court documents, the School of Mines informed Saxena that her Student and Exchange Visitor Information System immigration record had been terminated by the DHS. She’s now seeking an extension on a temporary restraining order for two more weeks which would guarantee she can be in the U.S. to graduate. However, new documents from Noem’s attorneys say it’s not necessary because Saxena’s student status was already reinstated.
