(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota University System is reviewing records surrounding sex crimes committed by Ray Holmberg.
State Board of Higher Education Chair Tim Mihalick says members have learned about anyone previously affiliated with the institution or the board who may have a connection to the investigation. Holmberg was sentenced to ten years in prison for traveling to Europe with intent to pay for sex with underage boys.
Entrepreneur Bruce Gjovig is being linked to the case after emails between him and Holmberg were discovered. As reported earlier today, many North Dakota entities are cutting ties with Gjovig for allegedly having email exchanges with Holmberg. Gjovig claims he was unaware and appalled by Holmberg’s sexual abuse of children, although prosecutors said exchanges between the men in 2009 and 2011 showed Holmberg boasting about his sexual exploits. The Department of the Air Force and other local businesses have since cut ties with Gjovig.
