(Rapid City, SD) — National recognition is being given to a Rapid City hospital for its commitment to patient safety this spring. Monument Health received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade by the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that keeps track of patient safety. The “A” grade makes Monument Health Rapid City the only hospital in South Dakota to earn the distinction for the spring. General hospitals in the U.S. are assigned an A-through-F grade by Leapfrog based on 30 different metrics, including injuries, infections, accidents and errors. According to Monument, only about 30 percent of U.S. hospitals achieve an “A” grade.
