(Stanton, ND) — Knife River Indian Villages residents shouldn’t be alarmed by fires in the area. The National Park Service will initiate prescribed burns this month to reduce wildfire risks and enhance wildlife habitat and native plant restoration. Roughly 140 acres will be burned throughout Big Hidatsa East, North Forest Trail, and Two River Trail. Residents will be notified and updated before and during the burns, with signs posted on the main roads and trails that will be impacted.
