(Sturgis, SD) — The City of Sturgis is moving forward with plans to improve its airport. Funding for two projects costing just over six-million dollars has been secured. Most of that cost will be paid for through a combination of FAA and state funds. Workers plan to renovate the current terminal and construct a new taxiway for airlines. According to managers, the Sturgis Airport has grown from 34 planes based at the airport to now over a hundred. The goal of the new expansion is to make things less congested.
