(Garretson, SD) — South Dakota officials are urging farmers to keep safety in mind during planting season. This comes after a man was killed, and another seriously hurt, in a tractor accident near Garretson Tuesday. The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office says it happened when the two men were working on a large piece of farm equipment. Tractor and machinery accidents are the leading cause of death among farmers. Last year, there were 72 deaths and 133 serious injuries reported across the U.S.
