(Sioux Falls, SD) — A Sioux Falls man is behind bars after police say he shot and killed his mom just hours after Mother’s Day. The suspect identified as 22-year-old Nathaniel Borchert faces second-degree murder as well as child pornography charges. He was arrested Monday morning at a northern Sioux Falls home after officers found an unresponsive female. Sioux Falls Police say the woman was Borchert’s mother, Jaime Borchert, who was shot in the head. Investigators seized a gun at the scene that was likely used. Police say they’re still tracking down witnesses and searching for any surveillance video that could help with the investigation. Yesterday, a judge set Nathaniel Borchert’s bond at 500-thousand dollars cash only.
