Court Documents Released, Mayor Speaks On Madison ICE Raids

(Madison, SD) — More details are being revealed after ICE raid operations took place in Madison Tuesday, leading to eight total arrests. Federal court documents were made available yesterday, and Mayor Roy Lindsay also weighed in on what happened. According to those filings, a federal agent reportedly reviewed employment documents for Madison businesses earlier this year and discovered employees who appeared to be using other people’s identities. Search warrants were issued last week and then executed on Tuesday. Mayor Lindsay said he’s proud of the steps the two businesses that were raided took to verify employment eligibility and their preparedness for what took place. He’s also hoping the suspects get proper due process in each case. As a result of the ICE raid, the eight people were arrested from two different manufacturing businesses — three from Manitou Equipment and five from Global Polymer Industries. Those arrested are collectively from Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador. All of the suspects are set to appear in a Sioux Falls court today.
