Gov. Rhoden Signs Executive Order To Address Fuel Shortage

(Pierre, SD) — With fuel shortages hitting South Dakota, Governor Larry Rhoden has signed an executive order to ease delivery rules for certain liquid products. The move comes as high demand for petroleum products has led to low fuel inventories across the state. For the next two weeks, deliveries of gasoline, diesel, ethanol, propane, and more will be exempt from federal driving hour limits. However, the order stresses that companies can’t force fatigued drivers to work, and all other safety rules are still in effect. The order aligns with similar measures in neighboring states like Iowa and Nebraska. It expires on May 29th at midnight.
