Greenpeace To Appeal Dakota Access Pipeline Ruling

(Bismarck, ND) — Greenpeace officials disagree with the Dakota Access Pipeline ruling. The environmental group was ordered to pay Energy Transfer nearly 667-million-dollars in damages for the 2016 and 2017 protests at the Dakota pipeline. A Morton County jury handed down the sum, stating Greenpeace caused damages and published defamatory statements about the company. Greenpeace was one of multiple activist groups at the months-long protest. Representatives argue the award exceeds statutory caps on damages and that the verdict was based on inconsistencies.
