U.S. Environmental Officials Approve ND Coal Ash Program

(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota’s recycling and disposal program is being approved. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency officials green-lit the initiative for state workers to use coal ash for soil stabilization in roads and concrete mixes. The programs will also ensure the ash is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. North Dakota solid waste coordinator Diana Trussell says it can be reused to avoid mining and depleting other virgin minerals.
