ND Boaters Asked To Help Combat Invasive Species

(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakotans are being asked to help keep invasive and nuisance species out of regional lakes. The state Game and Fish Department says North Dakota isn’t susceptible to non-native organisms seen in coastal areas or the Great Lakes region. However, officials have reported zebra mussels in the southeastern region, which can lead to economic or ecosystem disruptions. Boaters are asked to clean, drain, and dry all equipment after use to keep invasive species from traveling to different bodies of water. Boat-cleaning stations are available at access points statewide.
