(Indianapolis, IN) — The 109th Indianapolis 500 will be run on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Rookie racer Robert Shwartzman will run from the pole position, becoming the first rookie to earn that spot since Teo Fabi in 1983. He will be joined on the top line by two-time Indy 500 winner Takuma Sato and last year’s runner-up Pato O’Ward. Last year’s winner, Josef Newgarden, will start in the 11th row alongside Will Power after the pair were found to have illegally altered attenuators. Team Penske fired president Tim Cindric, managing director Ron Ruzewski and general manager Kyle Moyer on Wednesday.
