(Bismarck, ND) — A North Dakota State official could join the U.S. Department of Education. The Senate HELP Committee nominated Kirsten Baesler to be the next assistant secretary of elementary and secondary education. Her nomination advanced to the full Senate after a narrow 12 to 11 vote yesterday. If confirmed, Baesler will step down from her position as the North Dakota State Superintendent of Public Instruction after serving since 2012.
