SD Lawmakers Split As Johnson Backs Reconciliation Bill

(Washington, DC) — South Dakota lawmakers are clashing over what’s being called the “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” Some back it, others are calling it a “Big, Beautiful Disaster.” Congressman Dusty Johnson voted yes on the reconciliation bill, which passed the House by just one vote. He says it brings tax cuts, cuts spending, and boosts border security. But Democratic State Rep Erik Muckey fired back on social media, saying the bill slashes funding for programs like Medicaid and SNAP. He also called Johnson’s vote fiscally irresponsible. The bill now heads to the Senate for the next round.
