Rosebud Sioux Tribe State Of Emergency

(Rosebud, SD) — The Rosebud Sioux Tribe is declaring a state of emergency as drug use and violence spiral out of control. Tribal President Kathleen Wooden Knife says meth trafficking, gun violence, and lack of resources have pushed the crisis to a breaking point. She’s calling on the federal government to step up with more law enforcement support. U.S. Attorney Alison Ramsdell says violent crime is rising across Indian Country, and her office is already stretching its limited resources to help. Tribal leaders are also urging the community to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
