(Sioux Falls, SD) — Authorities are investigating a number of “gang-related” assaults at the South Dakota State Penitentiary. The outbreak of attacks reportedly occurred in the penitentiary’s maximum security facility earlier this week. Officials say ten inmates were injured in the attacks. Another inmate was reported dead at the facility around the same time, but it’s unclear if his death was related to the assaults.
