COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The North Dakota State women’s track & field team had six athletes compete on Thursday at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds hosted by Texas A&M.
Bison senior Grace Emineth finished 17th in the long jump, leaping 20-8 (6.30m). She missed a qualifying spot for the NCAA Championships by only 2 ½ inches. Emineth concludes her Bison career at No. 2 in school history for both the indoor and outdoor long jump.
Senior Merrideth Spiers placed 28th in the hammer throw with a mark of 189-7 (57.80m), and sophomore Adison Kapitzke was 36th at 181-10 (55.42m). Both out-performed their pre-meet rankings, as Spiers was No. 35 and Kapitzke was No. 47 entering the meet.
Kapitzke also took 42nd place in the shot put, throwing 47-7 (14.50m).
NDSU freshman Nyariek Kur placed 47th in the long jump with a mark of 18-05.25 (5.62m). She will return to compete in the triple jump on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Jacee Johannsen no-heighted in the pole vault at the opening bar of 13-02.25 (4.02m).
The meet will continue with the final day of men’s competition on Friday and the final day of women’s competition on Saturday.
