World Pork Expo Set to Begin Next Week in Des Moines

(DES MOINES, IA) — The biggest gathering of pork industry stakeholders is set to return to the heartland next week. World Pork Expo heads back to the Iowa State Fairgrounds on June 4th and 5th. Kevin Hall, Communications Director for the Iowa Pork Producers Association says it is one of the biggest gatherings for the swine industry in the world.

“It’s going to be a great event, two days of pork producers and industry professionals from literally all over the globe,” says Hall. “I mean, there will be thousands of folks there, not just from the United States, but from countries around the world. It’s really a big celebration of pork, and if you’re connected to the pork industry in any way, you need to be at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Wednesday and Thursday, June 4th and 5th.”

The event, hosted by the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC), promises two full days packed with insights, innovations, seminars, industry networking opportunities and so much more. “The World Pork Expo continues to be the premier event for pork producers, offering the tools and insights they need to succeed in a constantly evolving industry,” Duane Stateler, NPPC president said. “Each year, we bring together the top minds in pork production to spark creativity and shape the industry’s future.”

The trade show will feature over 300,000 square feet of exhibit space that will showcase the latest advancements in pork production. “It’s two full days of exhibits, education, networking. I mean, the industry’s top experts, innovative solutions, the latest products and services are there,” according to Hall. “There’s going to be more than 700 booths showcasing cutting-edge technology, services, and equipment. There’s a Young Pork Advocates issue meet, lots of good seminars to learn conducted by both NPPC and by the National Pork Board. You can learn about the new consumer push that the National Pork Board is doing, Taste What Pork Can Do, and a great opportunity to, you know, connect with people who you might not have seen in a long time or folks you’ve never met before from literally all over the world who are connected to the pork industry, and it’s really, it’s one big family.”

Hall also highlighted some of the happenings that the Iowa Pork Producers Association will have as part of the World Pork Expo.

“Of course, Iowa being the number one pork-producing state in the nation, the World Pork Expo is hosted by the National Pork Producers Council, but of course, Iowa Pork is there on the grounds, and everybody is welcome to come into our hospitality tent,” says Hall. “It’s a great chance to cool off, hopefully the weather won’t be too hot, but a great chance if you want to relax, if you want to have a small meeting there, you’re welcome to, and meet some of our board members, some of our staff, network with other pork producers. Of course, free food and drinks for anybody in our tent, and just should be a fantastic time, and it’s a great learning opportunity. Pig farmers are all about constant improvement, and attending World Pork Expo will help you achieve that.”
