Fatal Crash Near Humboldt Leaves One Dead, One Hurt

(Humboldt, SD) — One person is dead, and another seriously hurt following a deadly crash near Humboldt early Saturday morning. According to the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was heading south on 457th Avenue around 1:30 a.m. when it blew through a stop sign at Highway 38 and slammed into a tree grove. The male driver died at the scene. A female passenger was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating what led to the crash.
