ND County Officials Protest Label of Sanctuary Jurisdictions

(Bismarck, ND) — State officials disagree with the federal government labeling North Dakota counties as sanctuary jurisdictions. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a statement criticizing towns and cities nationwide for failing to comply with federal immigration laws. The list consisted of several North Dakota counties, including Sioux, Grant, Ramsey, and Golden Valley. None of the county officials knew what criteria the DHS used to determine who fit the description or why they were named. The DHS’s list has since been deleted online after massive criticism from nationwide leaders.
