Feeding South Dakota Faces Big Meal Shortfall After Federal Cuts

news

(Sioux Falls, SD) — Feeding South Dakota is feeling the impact of federal cuts, and it’s a big one. The nonprofit says a sudden drop in USDA support has slashed their food inventory by 14 percent, canceling enough to equal one-point-two-five million lost meals each year. That’s about a two-point-five million-dollar hit. In April alone, the organization lost nearly 150-thousand meals, and more cuts are on the way. Prairie Farms is stepping up with product donations and a matching fund to help close the gap. For every dollar donated, they’ll match with two more. Feeding South Dakota is still operating as usual and urging donors to help online or in person.
