Minot Voters Reject City’s Sales Tax Proposal

(Minot, ND) — Minot residents are voting on a proposed city sales tax increase. Yesterday’s special election was close, with 954 residents voting in favor of the increase and 979 votes against it. The results won’t be certified until June 16th, but officials argue that uncounted absentee ballots and votes set aside could change the outcome. If passed, the sales tax increase would generate approximately four-million-dollars annually for the Minot Park District and fund projects, including a new indoor sports facility and infrastructure maintenance.
