(Sioux Falls, SD) — A 19-year-old man is heading to federal prison for selling the fentanyl-laced pill that killed a 15-year-old South Dakota girl. On Monday, Udda Kobaba received a 20-year minimum sentence for distributing drugs that caused the death of Kelcy Orr in 2023. Kobaba never met Kelcy but worked with another teen to get the pills to her. She took just one and died in her sleep. In court, Kelcy’s mother, Jenny Orr, called for justice, not just for her daughter, but for other young lives lost to fentanyl. Kobaba will also serve four years of supervised release and must complete drug and behavior treatment programs in prison. An appeal is due within two weeks.
