(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota Public Broadcasting says its financial future is on shaky ground. During a presentation at the Rotary in Sioux falls yesterday, SDPB warned that federal budget cuts could slash national funding by half. This would put local programming, high school sports, and even emergency broadcasts at risk. Executive Director Julie Overgaard says what sets South Dakota apart is the wide range of services SDPB provides, not just TV shows, but public safety alerts, government coverage, and support for fine arts. After the meeting, SDPB leaders met with Senator Dusty Johnson, hoping to win his support against the proposed cuts.
